Hello

Annette M. Bulas, OD

My Story

"I am listening."  Providing the best patient care begins with listening to what the patient is saying.  A person is more than just their eyes.  Listening to what my patients tell me has allowed me to diagnose and treat not only sight threatening conditions but also life threatening conditions.

Dr. Bulas is a board certified optometrist with special interest in ocular disease.  She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry.  Graduating at the top of her class with high honors, Dr. Bulas received the NEWENCO Clinic Award for overall clinical excellence.  This is presented to one graduating clinician that exhibits outstanding clinical skills.  In addition she received multiple scholarships for academic and clinical excellence.  Focusing on ocular disease, she trained at the Eye Foundation of Utah, in Salt Lake City, UT and the Center for Sight in Fairfax, VA.  Afterward, she returned to the Boston area to perform comprehensive eyecare at the Dorchester House in Boston, MA.

Community service has always played an important role for Dr. Bulas. While in Boston, Dr. Bulas volunteered at the Brighton Marine Naval Clinic in Brighton, MA examining and treating our troops and their families.   She was a girl scout leader when her daughters were in girl scouts and volunteered with the Boy Scouts helping with fund raisers. She is the proud mom of an Eagle Scout.   Also, she was an active Kiwanis Club member for over 20 years.

As a Buffalo native, Dr. Bulas returned to WNY to practice in Orchard Park at the inception of the Southtowns Eye Center in 1991.
